Award-winning film and theater actress, performer, singer and dancer, Isabél Zuaa was born in Lisbon. Her mother is from Angola and her father from Guiné-Bissau. When she was 5, she joined African dance group Prata Luar and was part of it until her adolescence. In 2006, she studied acting at Chapit? Art School with Ginna Tochetto. In 2007, she studied Theater and Cinema at the Portuguese National Conservatory in Lisbon. She then moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to study Performing Arts at Unirio. Since 2010 she has been working in Dance, Cinema, Theater and Television projects, both in Brazil and in Portugal. Isabél researches new forms of drama in which black women are protagonist and host of their own histories, defying stereotypes and preconceptions. In Cinema and Television she worked with directors like Marcelo Gomes, Yasmin Thayná, Juliana Rojas, Marco Dutra and Felipe Bragan?a. In Theater and Dance she worked with creators like Gustavo Ciríaco, Jorge Andrade, Tiago Vieira, Tino Segal, Denise Stutz and Felipe Ribeiro. Recent awards include: Best Leading Performance at the Zinegoak 2018 Film Festival for the film "Good Manners", by Marco Dutra and Juliana Rojas. Award for Best Secondary Actress by CineEuphoria 2018 for the film "Joaquim", by Marcelo Gomes. Best Actress Award at the Sitges 2017 Film Festival for the film "Good Manners", by Marco Dutra and Juliana Rojas. Best Supporting Actress Award at the Fest Aruanda 2017 for the film "Nó do Diabo", by Ramon Porto Motta. Guarani Award Revelation Artist in 2018 for the film "Joaquim", by Marcelo Gomes.
